Several clients have asked me “Where can I find a simple Word Press theme for a beginner? One that doesn’t require you to be an expert in HTML, CSS or PHP and doesn’t costs an arm and leg!”
And the first thing I ask them is “do you know what you want or don’t want for your website?” It is important to know this before you begin your search for a theme. If you haven’t created a list of “must haves” for your theme, I recommend taking a few moments to do so. If you’re not sure what you must have, make a list of things you know you don’t want. Trust me, this will keep you from wasting your valuable time.
Now the next thing to think about is whether you want to go with a Free or Premium theme. What’s the difference – well you get what you pay for. Now I’m not knocking Free themes, they’re great but if you are building a business website I recommend going with a Premium theme. Premium themes are usually well supported, have detailed documentation and provide an online support site for Q&A and specific issues. It is easy to jump on to the support site and get your questions answered or issues resolved quickly.
Ok, if you’re feeling ambitious you could start by Googling “simple Word Press themes“. But then you would spend an afternoon searching through pages and pages of choices! I don’t know about you but I don’t have an afternoon to spend looking at themes!
So let me make it easier for you! Here are five different websites where you can begin your search for a theme that fits your needs.
I hope you find this helpful and of value. Please feel free to comment and to share with your friends and colleagues. If you’ve found a simple theme that you love – please share – I know my readers would love to know!
